Leagues
The Portage Curling Club offers men's, women's and mixed leagues. Beginners are welcome in all leagues, and indeed beginners are especially needed in the men's leagues which use a point system to balance teams with experienced and novice curlers. Monday Men's 5 PM Dinner League: Men's pointed league with a team limit of 50 points. 8-end games starting promptly at 5:00 PM. Each week, the men's team that has a bye cooks dinner for the league. No assistance allowed from wives or girlfriends in preparing the meal! Club Playdowns in March for the top 16 teams combined with the Wednesday night men's league and Monday open league. Monday 7 PM Open League: Men, women or mixed rinks. No point limit. 8-end games. Men's rinks 50 points or less are eligible for club playdowns. Wednesday Men's League: Men's pointed league with a team limit of 50 points. 8-end games starting at 5:45 PM or 8:00 PM. Each rink will have draws at either start time from week-to-week. Club playdowns in March for the top 16 teams combined with the Monday night men's dinner league and open league. Thursday Women's League: Starts at 6:30 PM. Club playdowns in March. Friday Mixed League: Mixed rinks. Starts at 6:00 PM. Men and women must alternate throwing. 8-end games. No club playdowns for the mixed league. Some games on Tuesdays when ice is not available on Fridays due to bonspiels or holidays. Columbia County Senior Men's League: Mondays with draws at 10:00 AM and 12:45 PM. This is a rotating league between the five Columbia County curling clubs. |
